6 sleep aids you’ve probably already tried. And why number 7 is different.
Chances are, at least three of these have been sitting in your kitchen cabinet.
1. Valerian tablets from the drugstore.
2. Magnesium "specially formulated for nighttime use."
3. Sleep tea, box after box.
4. A 3- or 5-mg melatonin tablet that made you feel drowsy when you woke up.
5. A sleep app with rain sounds.
6. Maybe even a smartwatch that told you every morning what you already knew: that you hadn’t slept well.
And yet you still find yourself staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m. on a regular basis.
It’s not your fault. Below, we explain why those remedies often fall short, and what makes a wafer-thin strip that melts under your tongue so different.
1. Why You Sleep Worse Than You Did Ten Years Ago
Here’s something almost no one tells you: your body produces less and less melatonin as you get older. Researchers estimate that natural melatonin production in later life is tens of percent lower than it was in your twenties.
So it’s not because of “stress,” not because of that glass of wine, and certainly not because of you. Your body is simply sending a weaker signal that it’s time to sleep than it used to.
The question isn't whether you support that message, but how. And that's where most efforts fall short.
2. Why that 5 mg tablet made you drowsy
It makes sense that you thought: the more milligrams, the better. The tablets sold at drugstores often contain 3 to 10 mg, so that seems to be the standard.
But your body only produces a fraction of a milligram per night. Anything above that overwhelms your system instead of supporting it. You know the result: waking up feeling like you haven’t slept at all, and not really getting going until around eleven.
Research conducted among older adults has shown that 0.3 mg is more effective than 3 mg, with fewer side effects. That’s why Night+ contains 0.29 mg. Not a jolt, but a gentle nudge. You’ll notice the difference most in the morning.
3. Why a strip does work within 15 minutes
Everything you swallow has to pass through your stomach, intestines, and liver before it enters your bloodstream. That takes 30 to 60 minutes, and a large portion of the active ingredient is lost along the way. That’s why a tablet has to be so highly dosed: most of it never reaches its destination.
Place the strip under your tongue. It melts in 10 seconds, and the active ingredients are absorbed directly into your bloodstream through the lining of your mouth. No water, no swallowing, no planning ahead at the kitchen table.
Place the strip under your tongue when the lights go out, and it will start working within 8 to 12 minutes. Right when you want it to.
4. No habituation. For many of our customers, this is the most important point
If you've heard the stories about strong sleeping pills, we understand why you might be hesitant to "start something." And rightly so.
That’s why microdosing is so important: 0.29 mg is less than what your body produces on its own at night. No tolerance, no dependence. Most of our customers don’t use Night+ every night, but rather 2 to 4 times a week: after a long day, before an early appointment, or on Sunday evening when your mind is already starting to think about the week ahead.
The rest of the week, the box just sits in the nightstand. And that’s okay, precisely because you’re not tied to it.
5. What’s really in it
No "sleep complex" with hidden dosages. Four ingredients, with the amounts clearly listed on the label:
🍒 Montmorency cherry extract (50 mg) – the tart cherry known as the richest natural source of melatonin, and the cherry that sleep researchers rely on in their studies.
🟧 Saffron extract (14 mg) – a staple of Persian evening rituals for centuries. For those evenings when your mind keeps jumping from the grocery list to the family to tomorrow.
🧠 GABA (10mg) – the compound that helps your nervous system slow down in the evening.
🥩 Vitamin B6 (2.4mg) – helps reduce fatigue.
Vegan, sugar-free, gluten-free, with a light cherry flavor. Each batch is lab-tested by Eurofins, an independent European laboratory.
6. Try calculating how much you’ve already spent
Valerian: about €13. Magnesium: €24. Sleep tea: box after box. A melatonin tablet: €9, plus morning grogginess. A smartwatch: easily €200 or more, just to measure what you already felt.
Many people who come to us have spent hundreds of euros on this list. Night+ costs €28 for 30 strips, and if you use it 2 to 4 nights a week, that will last you two to three months.
Still skeptical? That makes sense. Here are the honest answers.
No. The dosage is lower than what your body produces naturally. There is no risk of developing a tolerance.
No, that's exactly the point. The drowsiness is caused by the 3–10 mg tablets. Night+ is intentionally microdosed.
No. It is a dietary supplement, not a prescription sleep aid, and we do not claim otherwise. If you are taking sleep medication or have any health concerns, please consult your doctor first.
It really is an evening ritual. Brush my teeth, pop a lozenge under my tongue, turn off the light.
